ERB N DUB
DrummerOver the last few years, DJ Erb N Dub’s international reputation has grown at a dramatic rate. It’s never been in Erb N Dub’s nature to just crossfade robotically between the biggest tracks of the day. Anyone who’s caught one of his scratch-laden four-deck sets of dancefloor destruction knows this only too well. Whatever facet of the craft you look at, whether it’s crate-digging, mixing, scratching, juggling or straight party-hyping, he’s constantly looking to take his skills to ever higher levels. Which is one reason why his UKF podcast smashed download records, and he’s regularly to be found behind the decks across Europe, North America and beyond, as well as in his native UK.
Steve started with keys in his teens copying music he heard from the radio and using his trusted Atari ST, 8 bit (!) sampling cartridge and tracker programs to write synth based tracks for the Amiga & Atari demo scene. He has been writing, playing and producing with Erb n Dub since they were in a live 8 piece DnB band way back in ’98 and has been involved with several colabs & remixes. With influences ranging from metal and Rock to rave and DnB with a particularly soft spot for early 80’s synth based pop music, Steve can bring a melodic element to most tracks along with the skills to deliver them live. Working for Yamaha since 2008 as pro music product specialist has seen him demo and perform at shows across the world from Exeter to LA.
VocalistTo those in the know, Damien Soul needs no introduction. His style is unique, having drawn influence from such a range of artists as the Motown legends, to Led Zeppelin and Nick Drake. Some of these influence’s are apparent in the hit track he co-wrote with Maverick Sabre, “I Need”. Having burst into the electronic dance scene he has worked with artists such as Simply Red, Gnarles Barkely to Sigma. Recently he featured on erbNdub’s EP, Fly With Me, which charted as a top ten Beatport D&B release worldwide. Similarly, with the Wicked City remix for Kill Paris, Damien achieve a top 20 release on the Glitch Hop Charts. With tracks in the pipeline from the Brookes Borthers and Sigma, Damien is one of the hottest rising Vocalists right now.
SynthsSkope recently collaborated with Mr Bill on the Auzzie glitch maestro’s artist album, resulting in a next generation glitch n bass hybrid and remixed ‘Jump’ for Vent on Colony Productions, doing the original much justice with a 100 bpm Neurohop remix! This pace shows no sign of slowing down as his recent work pricked the ears of acclaimed turntablist Krafty Kuts. Skope is now a full member of the band ‘Wicked City’ alongside Dynamite MC, Erb N Dub, Steve Yamaha & Chris Sargent and Krafty Kuts. They recently remixed Mr Scruff’s ‘Get A Move On’ as a collaborative project with the promise of greater things to come and you can expect a fully funked EP from Skope on ‘Instant Vibez’ before 2014 is over! No matter what, Skope is one to watch.
